As editors and proofreaders, we are here to help make your story the best it can be. However, before sending us your manuscript, there are a few things you can do to help us do our best work.

📌Set your document spacing to 1.5. This is our preference, as it enhances the readability of a manuscript.

📌Use an easy-to-read font. We prefer a simple font, such as Times New Roman or a similar one.

📌Make sure you put all indents in place. You should indent any time you start a new paragraph or with each new speaker.

📌Set the language in Microsoft Word to the language in which you want your book edited. For example, English (US) or English (UK).

📌Complete a basic spell check.

📌Remove any comments and highlights that are not addressed to your editor. This helps to reduce any confusion. It is typical to leave comments for your Developmental Editor; however, when a manuscript comes for copyediting, line editing, or proofreading, there should be no comments on it.

📌Provide us with feedback about what you liked and didn’t like from your sample edit or previous project. This helps us tailor our editing to your specific preferences.

📌Let us know of any specific feedback you would like or problem chapters or sections of the book so we can watch for them.

📌Lastly, please ensure that you have fully completed your Style Sheet. This ensures we have as much information as possible.

As always, these are just suggestions and are by no means required. If you have specific preferences not listed, please let us know. We are here to work with you.
